The Red Bull team has confirmed a major reshuffle for the 2026 Grand Prix year, moving up French driver Isack Hadjar to its main squad and awarding 18-year-old Briton Arvid Lindblad his maiden Formula 1 seat. The young driver, who is of Swedish and Indian heritage, will be team-mate to New Zealander Liam Lawson at the second team Racing Bulls. These changes means Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda being without a drive post a half-decade in F1. A Star in the Making The British teen participated in FP1 for the Silverstone and Mexican Grands Prix this year. The youngster was tagged as a prodigy by Red Bull since he was 12 years old. Regarding the team's junior academy, a senior Red Bull figure previously said that Lindblad "seems extremely gifted", commending his "pure speed". Red Bull has had a plan since last year to prepare Lindblad for his likely F1 debut in 2026, featuring appearances in F1 practice sessions at the British and Mexican races. The rookie said it was a "huge honour", adding: "2026 will be a huge step, and I know there's plenty to absorb, but I'm eager to work closely with the team and step up. The Frenchman's Chance The French driver celebrates his first podium in F1, secured at the Dutch Grand Prix this season. Hadjar's F1 career began in difficult fashion when he crashed on the formation lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. But, from that point, he has been one of the most impressive rookies this season. He featured an remarkable podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he lies 10th in the drivers' standings. The team principal commented: "Hadjar has displayed impressive growth and proved to be a fast adapter. Crucially, he has the innate pace that is the primary necessity in this sport. Tsunoda's Exit To partner Lindblad at Racing Bulls, Red Bull have preferred Lawson over Tsunoda. The New Zealander started 2025 with the main team but was moved back after just two races.
