🔗 Share this article The network's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Substantial Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons. During the fall season, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a markedly softer feel. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. In an era often characterized by dark humor, this show's sincerity found an audience and helped it become a breakout hit. A Major Commitment On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show centers on three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four key characters. "I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who took a chance on the show and helped it grow," stated Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for the foreseeable future." Network Praise The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who discovered the show and advocated for its peculiarly charming sensibility. "All of you showed up for this new show, praised it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Wholesome Alternative When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about watching this lovable family go about their simple existence. Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to evolve comedy past its long-running cynical streak. He attributed this trend to various cultural shifts. “It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we must laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.” The Path Forward Now, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well be part of that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences more opportunities to experience the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan. The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The entire series is available for streaming on HBO Max.
