The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Response Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance. Measurement Approach Modifications Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10. With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said. Manual Updates Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained. Platform Context The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
